This is the one window to put your concerns on the record before the Bill moves forward.
Just some reasons why this matters:-
1. You could be paying for it, whether it succeeds or fails. SANPC inherits PetroSA’s history of billions in losses. If projects do not deliver the promised returns, or expensive infrastructure goes underused, the costs may ultimately fall on taxpayers not private investors.
2. Less accountability.
The Minister appoints the board. There’s no binding requirement to publish deals, disclose emissions, or report performance beyond standard SOE rules. That’s the same setup that allowed state capture elsewhere.
3. It commits South Africa to decades more fossil fuel dependence.
The infrastructure created under this Bill could operate for 20–40 years. Although South Africa has committed to a Just Transition, the Bill contains no clear pathway for SANPC to phase out fossil fuels or align with the country’s climate commitments.
4. It puts the state on both sides of the table.
After the Sustaining the Wild Coast judgment highlighted failures in public consultation, this Bill enables SANPC to hold interests in offshore oil and gas projects without clearly setting out what consultation obligations apply when the state is also an investor.

Oceans Not Oil 
Not sustainable, promises permanent damage to a pristine natural environment and is potentially hazardous on many levels. Please do not allow this to happen to our beautiful Cape, our people and animals.

Aukotowa Fisheries Rejects the SANPC Bill To the Portfolio Committee on Mineral and Petroleum Resources, Aukotowa says NO to the SANPC Bill. This Bill is not about energy security. It is about locking ordinary South Africans into decades of debt, pollution, and secrecy. 1. We will pay for failure. SANPC inherits PetroSA’s billions in losses. When these oil and gas projects fail, it won’t be investors who suffer. It will be taxpayers, pensioners, and our children. 2. No transparency, no accountability. The Minister appoints the board. No requirement to publish deals. No requirement to disclose emissions. We’ve seen this movie before. It’s called state capture. 3. Climate betrayal. While government talks about a “Just Transition”, this Bill builds infrastructure for 40 more years of fossil fuels. No exit plan. No alignment with climate commitments. 4. Shutting out the public. After the Wild Coast judgment told government to consult communities, this Bill lets the state be both investor and regulator with no clear rules for public participation. Aukotowa fisheries demands: Scrap this Bill. Invest instead in transparent, renewable energy that creates jobs and protects our coastlines and communities. We will not pay for another PetroSA. We will not be silent while our future is sold off.

As a small scale fisher of Southern Africa this message is to the government of South Africa
My name is Andries Booysen staying in Elandsbay a small fishers town in the west coast of the Western Cape as a child of this beautiful country my plea is to you as the leaders of this country we say no to another challenge we facing and that is the company that you people want to register so that you can drill for oil and gas in the ocean stop killing our heritage and our livelihood which we made out of the sea .
We don’t eat oil and gas coz it kills innocent lives,what happen to a better live for all living in South Africa where is the voice of the voiceless in this democratic society.
