Environment Minister’s Marine Oil & Gas Sector Plan out for comment

It is absolutely vital that all South Africans look at this document, review it and comment.

This document (below) will bind our seas to national development plans like the Gas Master Plan and Operation Phakisa Offshore Oil and Gas program, which are regressive, not sustainable and lock our seas and marine based livelihoods into further pollution, potential incidence management with widespread miscarriage of justice, and millions of tonnes of future carbon dioxide and monoxide, methane, nitrous oxide, hydrogen sulphide and other greenhouse gas emissions and carcinogens.

This is section 8 of ten (10) draft Marine Sector Plans out for public comment (MARINE SPATIAL PLANNING ACT, 2018 (ACT NO. 16 OF 2018) THE PUBLICATION OF DRAFT MARINE SECTOR PLANS FOR PUBLIC COMMENT)

    • Don’t destroy our beautiful marine live for oil and gas.
When the last fish has been caught, the last game has been killed and the last tree has been felled, you will realize that money cannot be eaten! think about it carefully!!

  2. The proposal addressed here would be an atrocity against the communities, the environment and the marine life in the oceans to mention a few.
    Please do not allow this.
Your children’s children will suffer the brunt of your greed and need for raping and pillaging this earth.
PLEASE STOP OIL AND GAS EXPLORATION IN OUR OCEANS, WITHOUT THE OCEANS LIFE AS WE KNOW IT WILL CEASE TO EXIST.
