New Wave for a New World

Oceans Day – All along the eastern seaboard of South Africa, South Africans stood together in an action against government approval for offshore drilling. Many are exasperated that this push for oil and gas is at variance with the science that shows more hydrocarbon emissions will push us closer to planetary tipping points and global warming.

In support of the hundreds willing to brave colder seas, the thousands of signatures of concerned citizens have been added to the petition demanding the minister for the environment, Barbara Creecy, who heads up the the offshore oil and gas stream of economic development program, Operation Phakisa, withdraw her approval of ENI & Sasol’s application to drill.

Please join us in persuading government that the drilling at record depths, by oil corporations with poor mitigation records, in our fast-flowing Agulhas current risks too many lives, livelihoods and our collective future.
