GAS PIPELINE RUSH

Gas infrastructure demands high environmental scrutiny.

The Minister for the Environment is asking for comments on reducing timeframes +/or administration or exclude environmental assessment altogether for planned gas pipelines. Incidents of pipeline failure can result in serious ecological disasters, human casualties and financial loss. (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_pipeline_accidents)

This public notice was published in the following newspapers on these dates, meaning comments submission must be by 2 Sept:
Sowetan – 23 July; Isolezwe – 24 July ; Daily Dispatch 24 – July

We strongly advocate that high standards of Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) production and official review be applied to any national, land or offshore gas pipeline.

See submission details on Notice below.
