Another Environmental Authorisation granted for exploration on the west coast of South Africa
On 27 September 2024, the Department of Mineral Resources and Energy sent notification to stakeholders that the Environmental Authorisation for offshore exploration in Blocks 3B/4B off the west coast of South Africa has been granted, citing that the proposed activities (drilling and relevant acoustic surveys, will not result in any detrimental risks to the environment and the public – see full notice below:
Registered Interested & Affected Parties and Stakeholders are invited to Appeal any aspect of the decision, and can be lodged in terms of the National Appeal Regulations of 2014 (Government Notice R993) within 20 calendar days of the date of the notification (i.e. by no later than 17 October 2024).
